About the event
Jessa Gilbert splits her year working as a certified backcountry snowboard guide curating tangible experiences for people and as a full-time artist creating paintings and murals that celebrate the joy of adventure and wilderness. While these may appear as seemingly divergent fields, she employs the same creative process in both arenas. Join Jessa as she presents her process of cultivating creativity in the outdoors, whatever the medium. Her talk will be paired with a screening of her latest film project, “Drawn In”, where she documents creating a painting while guiding a split boarding trip in Antarctica, and navigating the twists and turns of the creative process.
Jessa is originally from Upstate New York, and now lives in Squamish, British Columbia where the union of Art and the outdoors is part of her daily life. Her work can be seen online at www.jessagilbert.com as well on public walls across the globe, notably in Denver, Vancouver, and Whistler.
